The Scottish Social Housing Charter came into effect in April 2012. The Charter was developed as a result of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010, which supports the Government's long term strategy for a Safer, Stronger Scotland. It emphasises continuous improvement in the quality and value of service delivered to customers, and, it places greater focus on service user involvement by encouraging customer-led shaping of services.
From April 2013 all Scottish Registers Social Landlords (RSLs) have to meet the outcomes and standards set by the Charter, and meet its new reporting requirements.
As mentioned before, service user involvement and satisfaction are at the heart of the Charter, and also fundamental to the work we do at the Association. For this reason, we are working hard to expand our tenant involvement in the running of the Association's business. A focus group was set up in August 2013. The focus group will discuss the outcomes contained with the Charter and will be involving tenants in setting locally agreed standards and also to help to verify our level of performance. The Charter places new reporting requirements on the Association. Most notably for you, in August each year the Regulator will publish its 'Regulator's Report to Tenants', and by the end of October each year, we will publish the 'Landlords Report to Tenants'. In preparation for the new reporting requirements, the Association will publish performance information in the annual report and quarterly newsletter.
