Best Start Grants 

Best Start Grants are made up of 3 possible payments. These provide parents and carers who receive certain benefits or tax credits with financial support during the key early years of a child's life. 

2026 Rates.

• Pregnancy and Baby Payment is £767.50 on the birth of your 1st child and £383.75 on birth of subsequent children, you can apply from 24 weeks in your pregnancy until your baby is 6 months old. 
• Early Learning Payment is £319.80 for when your child is between 2 yrs and 3.5 years old to help with costs of early learning. 
• School Age Payment is £319.80 to help with costs preparing your child to start primary.
